My name is Alejandro Sanchez aka Alex Escobar. I'm a hiphop producer/lyricist/rapper from Montreal,Canada. I started mixing at parties when I was 15 and I started writing lyrics, but I didn't have the beats. At the age of 20 I started producing my own material and buliding my ideas. My sound is "profound mainstream/Underground". That means I mix various styles of music to build Original tracks and lyrics. None of that copycat music that is invading the essence of Hiphop.
Why this name?
Beeing half Colombian made me choose Escobar and the fact that Pablo Escobar was not only a big ganster but a genious in innovation of his businnes.
Do you play live?
I did once, but now I'm starting back at square one and hope to play live wherever the music takes me.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It changes the music industry a lot. maybe musical revolution. I must agree there is a lot of piracy and a lot of underground and mainstream artists suffer from this phenomenon, but the good side is that people all over the world can hear what you got to say and that could give you a major chance to mass up a fan base and meet other artists or even people well connected in the businness.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of Course, its a once in a life time. Sure they will tend to exploit you and sure you won't probably be the next Michael Jackson or Madonna. but it's an experience that doesn't come often
