A young multi-talented musician, A.Twon has been writing, rapping, engineering, producing, and designing for over 5 years now. Born Antjuan DeCarlos Ratliff on May 27th, 1986 in Tacoma, WA, Antjuan was never a stranger to doubtful peers, a poorly-cultured environment, and nearly NO commercial outlet. Nevertheless, as long as he had the soul of his St. Louis grown family burning in him, he would continue to see no bounds or obstacles... well that's how HE would put it.
Antjuan started writing at an even younger age of only 10 years old. Of course, back then it was only poetry. It still had great significance in his creativity, as well as the subjects he's never afraid to touch in his music. He has developed a voice for the people, as well as the clubs. His songs have moved through situations of malice, animosity, broken homes, betrayal, heartache, insecurities, and even death. A.Twon tries his best to base all his music from true events in order to ensure his audience will relate. You can try listening to a track from his 2007 mixtape (PLAYed) called "Watcha Wanna Hear" for a perfect example of what i'm speaking of.
"..listening to music is easy.. listening to the RIGHT music is the hard part..." says A.Twon...
He actually doesn't drop himself in that category alone. As he describes, "..it's more of music that makes you feel like more than dancing, I like it to be music that makes you think, and understand.." Some of A.Twon's largest inlfuences have been Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Common, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Ludacris to name a few.

Why this name?
The name, "A.Twon", was given to Antjuan as a nickname while playing basketball with his friend Caleb. The name quickly caught on and became usual acknowledgement throughout his last few years of high school. Little known fact: before A.Twon was initially given his name, he originally called himself "Lil Ace".
Do you play live?
The first time A.Twon ever performed live was doing a suprise performance at his old high school. He described the feeling as overwhelming, yet rewarding. "It really felt like I belonged on the stage", says A.Twon.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
A.Twon says, "since the internet has become so integrated into the music industry, issues like promotion and exposure have become childsplay.. I love it!"
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
"Yes", says A.Twon, then he continues, "but.. not just any label.. they would have to develop and care for the artist AS an artist, NOT just a product, ya dig?"
