ROCKWELL AKA YOUNG ROCKWELL

is a 19 year old hip hop producer with talent and wisdom beyond his years.

Coming from a musical background, Rockwell has been a part of music his entire life and began making beats at age 14.

Today Rockwell resides in New Orleans where he attends college. According to the young beatmaker, "I spend every possible moment of my life creating or listening to music. It has always been this way- it always will be this way." The producer's sound emphasizes a blending of many styles especially dirty south, soul, funk, and east coast styles; a brand of music many dub "Dirty East."

The word producer is often used carelessly in hip-hop when many in fact are merely beatmakers- Rockwell is an exception to the rule. A hip-hop producer in the truest sense of the word, Rock not only makes beats but is incredibly gifted at working and coaching artists, recording and mixing, as well as performing live. Be on the lookout for this up and coming producer.

A website and production company are in the works. But in the meantime Rockwell is looking to meet and collaborate with any and all DJs, MC's, musicians, and singers. He's developing a style that combines samples, keyboards, and live instruments to create a soulful and energetic sound.

UPDATE: 7/1/06: A website will be up in the next few months at www.rockwellbeats.com.

Also, a solo album is in the early stages. It will feature production entirely by Rockwell and showcase local LA MCs.

ANY MCs INTERESTED IN BEING FEATURED ON THE ALBUM WILL RECEIVE FREE BEATS, FREE RECORDING TIME, AND FREE EXPOSURE.

Why this name?
I was listening to Illmatic and as I drove past a sign for Rockwell Road in my home town I heard Nasty Nas spit "Nas, I rock well- it aint hard to tell."

Clearly a sign from God.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows for artists to reach fans that they would never have thought possible, and fans to find artists they never new existed.

One
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Maybe- If the terms are right and they don't f*** me over... maybe.
Band History:
Rockwell was born in Concord, Mass in 1987.

After years of singing and playing bass in rock and jazz bands throughout high school, Rockwell moved to New Orleans in 2005 to attend Loyola University. Though he has been making beats using Fruity Loops since he was 14, he did not get serious about hip hop until he met a few close friends who had similar interests.

Today Rockwell makes beats using an Akai MPC1000, Yamaha Motif, Ensoniq ASRx, and other keyboards as well as ProTools and Cubase. Along with playing bass, singing and beatboxing, young Rock has a great deal of experience mixing and recording as well as truly producing artists and getting the best performance out of any MC or singer.

A website and production company are in the works. But in the meantime Rockwell is looking to meet and collaborate with any and all DJs, MC's, musicians, and singers. He's developing a style that combines samples, keyboards, and live instruments to create a soulful and energetic sound.
