Why this name?
Let's justy say that many years ago it used to be a kind of code word between my best friend and i . He has since passed on and i use it in memory of him....Randy. Besides I am never refused it as already used when I sign up anywhere on the net...lol.
Do you play live?
Currently no live dates are planned. I have terminal stage fright.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Are you kidding, it has opened up a whole new world. There are some amazing musicians out there that would never have been heard if not for the net. It also makes it possible to do long distance collaborations. I have personally done collabs with artists in Canada , Romania , Denmark , The UK , and other places....that would not be possible a few years ago. A recent project done by the Acid Exchange Arts and Music Guild(I am a member)had 6 of us scattered across this country and 2 others producing a song that sounded like we were in the same studio. "Now that" is amazing.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probably. I love to get my musical expressions out there....that is what music is for...to hear...and a lable would get it out to more ears.
Band History:
I have been doing bits and pieces of music for years, but in 2000 I bought Sonic Foundry's Acid Rock program and began posting songs at Acid Planet...currently I have almost 300 songs there and rank pretty high in the "Top Artists" list they maintain. I expect to keep doing this as long as I can, and expand as much as possible. I think I have come a long way from my first tentative postings there.
Your influences?
Oh my gosh...I am influenced by everything, the list would be too long to put here. I will say that Classic Rock and Blues have been my greatest influences in forming my core. Ambient music ala "Tangerine Dream" is another influence. Pink Floyd..the Beatles..Elvis..Dream theatre..Oasys..The Cars....see...it gos on and on. I also am greatly influenced by the great artists of The Acid Exchange...Black Ether..Sonic Dave(Sonic Epiphany)..A Pleasant Symetery..Dave Bluesman Delux..Dave Bell.....well there are too many in the guild to write here, but all of 'em are an influence on what I do.
Favorite spot?
That is a hard one too. I Love Santa Barbara Calif. for one of the top spots for me.
Equipment used:
I use a PC I built, an electronic keyboard, various hand drums, tamborine, kazoo, some hand drums, a Behringer studio mic, and several software programs...Acid Music 4 . Fruity Loops (silly name) , Reason, Magix Music Maker, Sound Forge8 and anything else I can get my hands on.
Anything else...?
I just want to say thank you to all the people that take the time to listen to me. And to plug "The Acid Exchange" which has a wonderful eclectic 2 CD set available at CDBaby.com http://cdbaby.com/cd/theacidexchange 23 artists on a 2 CD set....awesome.
