A Kid Called Fresh....
Why this name?
A movie by the name of "Fresh" was the reason I chose to go by A Kid Called Fresh.
Do you play live?
I used to play live with a punk band. After departing from the band, I decided to focus on my own music. I've opened up for Slum Village in DC since I departed.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It give unknown artist a chance to get some recognition. The music industry has a lot funds to help an artist, unsigned artist get a chance to showcase without all of the middle man transactions...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It all depends on the ends....
Band History:
From elementary school until my 2 semesters in college, I was interested in the arts, and i still pursue the arts in my spare time. At the tender age of 10, i discovered that singing was one of the many talents i possessed.I have performed numerous times at the Kennedy Center with a group of young singers in my area, named Honors Chorus. I later found that I liked to dance also. So I found myself trying out for the Dance Theater of Harlem Ballet Troupe once again at the Kennedy Center. With no previous experience I was selected for the highest level of dance.
I've attended magnet schools for most of my life. Studying the various arts:
chorus, media production, ballet, african dance and drumming, computer graphics, photography, printmaking, painting, performance art, sculpture, drawing...
Yet I found myself moving towards music for years. First discovering it in 1999, I knew it was a way to vent from the abuse and neglect i received in a broken home. Over the years i've been preparing myself for the big break. Not running to quick toward the business, but taking a slow pace to make sure that skill and persistence triumphs over an over-crowded industry. Going from forming a metal band to making hip hop tracks, no category is safe from my talent.
With the little equipment I do own, I suprise people every time, whether its the old VHS camcorder(which is so broken but useful for sampling cheap VHS movies) to the three strings I have left on my busted up acoustic guitar, I manage to produce tracks without a bunch of expensive technology. And that is me(not all of me) in a nutshell...
