U-R under the influence of Silva Mind Kontrol
Once I straightened myself out a little bit after my hellish first year in San Francisco I was truly blessed when I met the amazing KAOS KITTY in 1998. She was known to all in the area as perhaps the most intensely extreme performance artist out there, as well as a scintillating vocalist with a 4 octave range. Her approach to performance relied entirely on spontaneity resulting in truly spectacular acts of live exhibitionism. But strangely enough, she wasnít closely collaborating with anyone at the time! What luck!
I had been searching for a female vocalist to collaborate with ever since the demise of my previous duo project 'Terminus', but never dreamed of finding a partner so amazingly intense! How intense can she be, you ask? You can find out specifically by reading my interview with her from the first issue of the Audio Odditions Magazine to be posted on the Audio Odditions page of this website!
Over the past few years Kitty and I have collaborated in numerous capacities, many of them quite scandalous. Weíve performed musically twice here in San Francisco, both times under a Blue Moon hence the title of our CD-R release 'Twice Under a Blue Moon' .All the recordings on this disc came from these performances. The music itself spotlights the voice and playing of the wunderkaschen with myself on accompaniment and processing. The end result is unlike anything Iíve ever been involved with, a sheer and beautifully focused chaos dedicated to the power of a maddeningly powerful siren from space. You can hear for yourself just how far out we can get by ordering this CD from either Ventricle records or Drone records via their websites and I guarantee you won't be disappointed!
But my favorite Silva Mind Kontrol collaboration of all was for the Bone Tree Installation (for more info on the Bone Tree see the U-R-I section). For this performance Kitty (having since renamed herself 'Kaosmikitty' to reflect the assimilation of the cosmic into her Kaos) choreographed an amazingly complex Butoh performance around concepts both elemental and magickal drawn from a variety of sources deeply researched by her. She then brought specific instructions to me which I used to compose the Bone Tree Soundtracks which is also available through Drone records. The performance involved over a dozen performers and was enacted at the Burning Man Festival in 1999 and 2001 in front of a bedazzled audience. The Bone Tree will always be in our hearts as a result and our heartfelt thanks go to Dana Albany for creating and constructing this fantastic 30 foot tall roving installation for Burning Man.
Kaosmikitty has since debuted her first solo track on the 2nd Audio Odditions CD Compilation and has made many recordings to be assembled at a future date into her first solo release. She is also a writer and graphic artist and is the creator of the CD cover for the Silva Mind Kontrol release as well as the first Audio Odditions Cd Kompilation.
Silva Mind Kontrol has plans to complete and release more work as well and hopefully 2003 will see that happening!
