Welcome to my soundclick page. I'm BlackEGO, aka. Marcus Hughes, aka Boots The Monkey (inside joke). Anyway, I'm not going to talk about the current state of Hiphop or music in general and say the sh*** needs to stop. I'm just doing me and hopefully by taking this route, people like the beats that I produce.
A career may come from this but my first love is graphic design and then music.

Why this name?
Digable Planets - Black Ego is one of my favorite songs and I consider it like my theme song. My "unofficial theme song." I took the sample they used and flipped it. It'll be the introduction to my first LP, "Just Foolin' Around Vol.1"
Do you play live?
Nah, don't play live.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Internet has changed the music industry tremedously. You got a lot of artisit now getting their chance to present their craft to a large array of people. You can be the smallest artist in the industry and still have like 9000000 fans just because they like what you make.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If I develope a love for making beats (which I have) and think it would be the best career move for me now, yeah I will but for now, designing and writing is my main focus. Beats comes next.
Your influences?
Got a ton of musical influences that isn't Hiphop related. I love Jon Brion's music, how he arranges everything. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Rush, Genesis and many others. From a Hiphop standpoint, Jay-Dee (RIP), Madlib, Timbaland, Dr. Dre, Einstien of Ugly Duckling, People Under the Stairs.
I have a great influence to 9th Wonder. Though I don't try to copy anyone's style, I think the way he approach his production style is unique and probably one of the most mimmicked sounds that you can hear now and days.
