Rusty Wilson is a country star, most people just don't know it yet. With amazing vocal abilty and fantastic stage presence, you will never be disappointed. Rusty's original songs are fabulous. Everyone of them could be a hit single. He's also one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. He's never too busy to sign an autograph, shake hands or just visit.
Why this name?
Well, we call the band frontier. It's a name we came up with about 10 years ago, and we haven't found anything we like better yet.
Do you play live?
Yes. Anywhere that we can, but mostly around Central Louisiana. Every show has special moments. It may be a song that just comes together. A particularly good lead ride or a crazy fan.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
MP3 has made music readily avialable to the masses with a greater level of control. The consumer now has the ability to purchase the songs they want, rather than an album with 1 or 2 good song and 10 or 11 throw aways. This has forced the industry to put better songs on the albums.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, A major label deal is still the best way to get your music on radio and in front of the main-stream audience.
Band History:
Rusty Wilson started playing piano and guitar at age 5. His Great Grandmother, Mary Evelyn DuBois, taught him to play old gospel hymns such as “Go Down Moses” and “I’ll Fly Away”. He started playing professionally when he was only 13 years old accompanying his uncle’s classic country band at family reunions, weddings and parties. His father, a drummer, showed him the ropes as he honed his skills sitting in at band practices. It seemed as though Rusty was born for the stage. After high school, he joined the United States Army, which took him to Fort Campbell, KY, only an hour from Nashville, TN. While in Nashville, Rusty sharpened his song writing skills with writers such as Brett Jones, Rick Tiger and Papa John Alee. Rusty won a talent contest at Goodfellow Air force Base, Texas. This opened the door for his participation as a performer in the United States Army Soldier Show. While touring the United States and Europe, Rusty performed at the 1996 summer Olympics in Atlanta, the National Convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and many other special events. After the Soldier show, the young man was assigned to a military unit in South Korea. He quickly formed a band and began performing at bases and local establishments all over the peninsula. He quickly earned a reputation as a dynamic performer that is at home on stage and a thrill to watch.
