Overhead Abstract

From a technical standpoint, this is one of my best joints. I played all instruments, and my homie 3 Grand mixed and mastered it. We turned this joint into a monster! The music is melodic with a hard-hitting beat, and features my best bass playing so

Abstract Instrumental

The instrumental to 'More Abstract Sh*t.' I made this beat for the soul purpose of sounding different. I used synths, strings, and a guitar to give it a retro-futuristic funk feel. I kept the drums low key so you can focus on the other elements.

More Abstract Sh*t

Just like 'Overhead Abstract.' Lyrics with hidden messages and a beat from left field. I did the music and 3 Grand mixed and mastered it. This is my best lyrical piece.

WTF?

An observation about the dumbing down of black music and culture.

Don't Blink

Abstract metaphors and similies spread over 5 minutes and some change. A rhythmic poem injected with hip hop DNA. If you blink, you'll miss it.
This is DarkPoet...Just trying to inject a little abstract lyricism into the ears of my listeners. This isn't your typical brand of poetry; it's spoken word injected with the DNA of hip hop. Even though I live in ATL, I still rep Philly and the UK to the fullest. Everything you hear was produced by me and my homie 3 Grand "Tha Hitman." He's probably the tightest producer you've never heard of, and he's a "stupid mah fah!" Hopefully, what you hear will give you a mental workout and change your perception of poets. Not all of us are dread wearing, incense burning, bohemian vegetarians. Peace...
Band/artist history
Thanks to the people from Nockturnal Escape in Jacksonville gave me the drive to perform and take my poetry to another level.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I usually perform at jazz clubs and poetry spots. Sometimes I have a backup band, but I usually perform acapella.
Your musical influences
Rakim, Tupac, Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye...basically anyone who elevated their craft.
What equipment do you use?
Pro Tools, Cool Edit, Goldwave, Ensoniq
Anything else?
3 Grand tha Hitman (he's gonna blow up real soon...you heard it here 1st), Rhythm C (Let's do this collabo!), Renezance, Soul Release, and every poet/spoken word artist doing their thing. "Overhead Abstract" is the new album. Stay tuned...
