PROFILE: LI radio friendly Melodic-Rock band based on Long Island, NY. Extensive show/concert history since early 90's. Currently working on new material for a full length Cd. Press releases will be available soon, as well as promotional packages. Always looking to do shows with similiar bands/performers, as well as some acoustic shows. Sound Compared to: Staind---Zakk Wylde---Nickleback---Metallica---Black Sabbath.

Why this name?
We were trying to play off the fact that we were "UNKNOWN" in the biz, and a friend suggested "AXIS" for two reasons:
1- Our musical styles/backgrounds were so varied, that we didn't revolve around one "AXIS"
2- My friend was gettin' 4:20 friendly, and was listening to Hendrix - "AXIS: Bold As Love" at the same time. He said it just sounded cool.

Do you play live?
We play all over Long Island, and Gorilla D has done some national touring with the "Rock 4 Xmas" Foundation All-Stars as an opening act (2003 & 2004)
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows us to compete with the majors, it allows us to distribute our music without needing a well full of cash. Even if we don't get signed to a label, we still have a chance to get the music out to the masses. Bands can control thier own careers like never before.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Absolutely!! The labels still have the means and knowledge to push a band/artist above and beyond, they have access to a zillion avenues a band/artist can only hope to reach. Plus the guidance and know-how of a major can be priceless, as long as the deal is a good one. Still have to look out for number one at the negotiating table!!

"Gorilla D" - Roland solid-state 250watt Jazz head on a 2 x 15" cabinet, assorted Boss pedals/effects, Ernie Ball Slinky strings (I mix "Skinny Top, Heavy Bottom" with "Hybrids"), and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Yamaha Slient Acoustic Steel Sting guitar, Les Paul Studio, and my Toyota (yes, TOYOTA) Hollow-Body Electric six-string guitar - I wish I could find another one!! I also use Shure SM-51 Mics, and looking into a wireless guitar pack & headset mic.
I have a 400watt Hartke Bass rig. I use a Yamaha 300watt 4 channel PA powered mixer for the PA, with 2 - 15" loudspeakers with Horns and tweeters, in my practice studio. I'm looking to get a Ludwig Double Kick Concert Drumkit, Zildjian Cymbals, and a Gibraltar Rack System for my studio (one of my former drummers had this set up and it was CRAZY!!!)
