Heavy metal power trio Waz Warpt has a unique, freeform style sound that will leave you thirsty for more of their original, heavy groove. The relentless energy of Disturbed combines with the constant percussive rhythm of Godsmack, screaming vocals of Judas Priest, stimulating lyrics of the Beatles, incomparable character of Frank Zappa and heavy out front bass of Primus to place Waz Warpt in a unique category of musical style reminiscent of Led Zeppelin.
Driven by pure adrenaline, their respective solos combine with an extremely unified sound and introspective themes to bring you an experience that will keep you reeling long after the show ends.
Bill, Andy and Zach named the band Waz Warpt using their initials and a variety of controlled substances.
Live Waz Warpt is more infinitely more gratifying experientially than prerecorded Waz Warpt. Waz Warpt loves playing live almost as much as the crowds love Waz Warpt playing live, so we play live whenever and wherever we get the chance.
Music recorded in the mp3 format and distributed via the internet does more to encourage unsigned/indie bands in developing quality sound and growing popularity than it does to suck money from popular bands which have already "made it".

Late in the decade of the 1980s, the era during which hard rock became extremely popular, 'hair bands' made their debut and indie rock was born, brothers Bill Stockton (guitar/vocals) and Andy Stockton (drums) formed "Shadow" with high school friend Tracy Knight. This was a portion of the formidable start of three very talented musical careers.
Of course, the three young musicians parted ways and went on to pursue diverse interests. Each subsequently continued playing albeit with different formations but Bill and Andy were pretty much always together.
The roots of Waz Warpt extend all the way to 1991 when Bill and Andy Stockton formed Victim with Paul Pollini on guitar and Bill on bass. Within months Bill met Zach Smith. Bill got a roommate, Victim got a bassist.
Cut to 1996. Paul left and formed The Perpetual Motion Machine (which violated most of the laws of thermodynamics hence it's foreordained loss of momentum when the band ceased motility in mid-2002) and Bill, Andy and Zach became Waz Warpt. They broke up in 1997.
In 1998 Bill and Andy hooked up with guitarist Pat Norris. After a variety of different bass players, Zach returned to the fold in 2002. They revived the name Waz Warpt and went into the studio in January of 2003 to record their nine song self-titled debut, after which Pat left the band to pursue his lifelong dream of dying a lonely man, making Waz Warpt the band it was intended to be.
Despite the fact that Waz Warpt is ultimately modeled after nothing but their own unique style, Waz Warpt is also heavily influenced by Mötley Crüe, Black Sabbath, Billy Joel, Tool, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Mudvayne and a variety of hair bands.. not necessarily in that order.
Because Dick and Jane's dog ranks very highly in our list of favorites, it would seemingly follow that our favorite place is a trouble-free suburbia of middle-class values set in a safe, prosperous environment behind white picket fences, however actually our favorite spot is onstage. This is a close second.
Although Waz Warpt gets no promotional compensation from any of the following, we proudly use Tama drums with Remo drumheads & Zildjian cymbals, Behringer microphones/Peavey microphones, Ibanez guitars/Spector guitars with D'Addario strings/Ernie Ball strings, /Peavey amplification/QSC amplification/Ibanez amplification, Yamaha mixer/Peavey PA and anything else that sounds sweetly and is available.
