Rose River has been playing together for the past two years. We spun off from our church group, and started with a great night at the Blue Cup Coffeehouse in Holmen. We sure aren't in it for the money. All the members have families, but find a way to get a gig three or four times a year, and we always have a blast. This site does have some of our original music, but we're 90% a cover band. Our mission is to play songs we like, and what a variety of tastes do we have. Tim is our leader, and comes with a strong cover band experience from his college days. Paula is our trained musician who can find a harmony in any song. Dave is the folky of the group bringing the mandolin and harmonica into the songs for texture. We also have Shelly who will find time to join us as the fourth vocalist and adds a great flute. Our song we love to cover that allows us all to shine is Van Morrison's Moondance.

Besides bringing diverse music interests and training to the group, we also come from a wide area of Wisconsin. Tim is from Ashland, Dave is from Manitowoc, and Shelly and Paula are from the LaCrosse area.

Why this name?
Tim played in the band Rosewood before and we live next to the Mississippi River, so it was a natural.
Do you play live?
Of course... different parts of LaCrosse County...

We would love to play every weekend but we would all be divorced quickly.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I like alot of the new controls... if you own the rights and want to share your music, IT's AWESOME Baby...

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
In the words of an old Greg Brown tune... Dream on, little dreamer, dream on...

Tim and Paula have the talent but lack the desire, and face it we're all over forty. Dave could be signed by anyone wanting to hear a bad Bob Dylan impersonation.... but he does think he writes ok.
Band History:
Above is part of the history... while we haven't been around real long, we're good.
Your influences?
While we want to destroy all of Paula's Barry Manilow CD's, we're pretty much an early to late 70's influence.
Favorite spot?
The Freight House
Equipment used:
The cheapest kind
Anything else...?
