Free Minds is a group of like-minded individuals who have maintained a strong foundation of friendship over the years. Months. Days. Collaborations between the emcees in the crew are never limited by subject or !-- and every recording hopefully reflects the positive energy created in the room at the time. World domination is a goal, but mostly the Free Minds just want to give back to the culture that helped raise them.

Why this name?
A random conversation. The name just seemed to fit with everything we were putting together.
Do you play live?
We have been hard at work on an album ever since the crew has formed, but live dates are being organized now and will be posted soon.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives all artists an equal opportunity to be heard, which is a revolutionary concept.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Thanks, but no thanks. We have access to all the tools we need accomplish our goals by ourselves. DIY is very important to us.
Band History:
Karma, Stayhigh, and Add Color, all met basically by chance with strong influences from california's rediculous real-estate prices. Within days of meeting, (literally) ADCO moved all his equipment into Karma's studio and the projects began instantly.
Your influences?
The absolute biggest influence on our music is day to day existence in this strange, dark, beautiful world. Every member of Free Minds comes from a completely different background, so the range of influences is enormous. Musically, we listen to everything from Fats Domino to the Beastie Boys and everything in-between.
Favorite spot?
San Diego. Despite different backgrounds its now the place we all call home.
Equipment used:
roland 909, yamaha AN200, mpc, Reason, Pro-tools, fender telecaster, various other gizmos and gadjets.
