Asgard Legionnaires are the 1st official Heavy Metal band from Doha. They were also the first Heavy Metal band to release any material in Doha.
Why this name?
After a brief phone conversation, Nasir Mestarihi had come to the conclusion that Asgard Legionnaires would be the appropriate name for the band.
Do you play live?
Yes, the band usually play shows in Doha, they enjoy every minute of their shows.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has several effects on music. Positive & negative factors could be stated, however we support the streaming & downloading of music if the band's material is in-accessable, our demo is quite cheap therefore it shouldnt be very hard to acquire, yet we understand the financial issues that teenagers face in terms of buying music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, if that was the best source of bringing our music out to the audience of the world, & giving us the capability to tour extensively, & handle costs of live shows then yes, because we fund our own shows which tends to complicate a lot of things.
Band History:
ASGARD LEGIONNAIRES is a Doha based Heavy Metal band taking their influences from Thrash and the NWoBHM movement. The band was manifested during February of 2002 by guitarists Nasir Mestarihi and Emre Gunes. The formative stages of the band, billed as OZZFLIK, would be blighted by member changes and political unrest. Finally the advent of the Iraqi war put music on hold as Gunes relocated to Turkey. He would return to Qatar, cutting a demo with Mestarihi including IRON MAIDEN covers, but then journeyed back to Turkey once again.

Building up ASGARD LEGIONNAIRES, Mestarihi inducted singer Rhys Corson, bassist Teymour "Timo" Khan and Yoann Larrieu in September of 2004. A drummer would be located in the thirteen year old Ateek Chima. Changes though saw Khan exiting to be superseded by Yassine Benmosbah. Following an appearance at a 'Battle Of The Bands' contest keyboard player Daniel Mehdezedah departed. Next in line to leave would be Rhys Corson.
