Emmanuel Fray aka Grinz, born August 7th 1990 in North York, Canada, raised in Rexdale with his older brother, younger sister and mother.

At a young age, Grinz has been playing piano, taught by his mother who is a piano teacher. His mother went to York University for music and was taught by Oscar Peterson, she has been teaching ever since Grinz was born. Grinz grew up listening to his father’s successful R&B gospel group, Selections. They were nominated for a Juno Award in 1999 for the best Urban Gospel Group and won the 2001 Urban Music Award for the best Urban Gospel Group in Canada. Grinz has come from a musical family and has taking it up a notch at the age of 15 with his urban sound of rap and vocals with music writing by himself and with his dad, Fraycat.

Grinz played in a band at church called Revelation and he also played piano and sang for the main church choir. Now he’s writing and producing his own songs and songs for his crew, but he is also aspiring to work with other artist as a successful producer. Fraycat, his dad is a producer and has a commercial studio in Bermuda and has also set up a studio in Toronto for Grinz to work out of and learn the insides and outs of recording and engineering.

Fortunately because of Grinz musical background he has learned to write beats at an early age and now is able to write songs with ease. He writes mainly gangsta rap beats because of where he grew up, (Rexdale) but he’s also writing music that will hopefully appeal to a mass audience...

Listening to favorite producers like Jermaine Dupri and rapper Jay Z, has inspired Grinz to become one of the more innovative and inventive teenage rapper and song writer. Listen out for Grinz, because this is the beginning of a new experience.
