I'm just a college student testing the waters in the hip-hop production field. Prominently mellow sounds, defined melodies, and clear drum-and-bass tracks, melded together to hopefully create an enjoyable experience for the listener.
Why this name?
Canvas is essentially what I am, and what any other producer is. I simply construct the canvas, and let an artist paint the picture on it.
Do you play live?
Haha, nah I don't know what I'd do... put in a CD of my stuff and listen with everyone else? "...oh wait for the next one it's hot." I'm not necessarily a great DJ, so live performances will have to be put on hold for a while.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well shit, it allows people like me to get a feel of it and give a few heads the chance to listen.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course.
Band History:
I started doing this mid-2005 with just some simple programs and a couple of turntables.
Your influences?
Mellow, intelligent hip-hop. Artists such as Tonedeff, Cunninlynguists, Aesop Rock, Sage Francis etc.
Favorite spot?
Any seat at the Oakland Coliseum (for A's, not Raiders).
Equipment used:
Two turntables, a mixer, a keyboard, and my computer. Oh, and my imagination.
