Hailing from Seattle, Washington, Erik Zero deals with many different issues from a Christian worldview in a way that listeners can relate to. He has produced many local artists in the Seattle area and now has released his solo CD. The main theme of the CD is spiritual warfare, the idea that many of the struggles we face have origins in the spiritual realm or the unseen world. The answer to overcome these spiritual battles is to have faith in the One who has dominion over all things seen and unseen. Erik Zero deals with subjects like not having any money, hyprocrites, drug addiction, corruption in the church, the love of money, dealing with corrupt cops, and how to kill Hatersaurus Rex. Erik Zero's music is truthful without being preachy, humorous without being corny, and entertaining without copying someone else's style.
Why this name?
The "Zero" is to show humility, to set myself apart from the hedonistic, bling-bling, "all about me" lifestyle of most rappers, and to show that I am nothing without God.
Do you play live?
In 2001, my group the Underdawgz won "Best Musical Performance" at the Seattle Pacific University Talent Show. I've also caught some attention from industry execs lately, so we'll see what happens.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah, of course. As long as I get to keep full artistic control.
Favorite spot?
Seattle
Equipment used:
FL Studio 6, Sampletank 2, and other soft synths.
