Blank White Page is Canada's favourite rock duo, comprised of M Mockler and J Chappell.
Why this name?
Well, it means two things...the first we couldn't tihnk of a name so one day while driving past a blank billboard it hit us. We thought about and like the sound of the name as it is spoken and the tabula rasa-blank slate connotation it holds
Do you play live?
We play locally as an acoustic duo but we currently are looking for musicians to fill the roles that Maury and I take on in the studio. That way we can play our heavy rock music live as well.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes more music available to the average listener but it hasn't changed the industry much infact most technology has made the industy even more concentrated and focused on image. Video started this of course...so many great acts are ignored because of image and so many marginal talents make it.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We would.
Band History:
BWP joined forces in late 1998. At that time it was considered a side project but the quality and feel of the song writing soon changed BWP into a full blown reality, after just 6 months Blank White Page decided to head to the studio. The sessions took place with the help of Jacob Recording artist and producer Shane (Sugah J) Phillips. That summer the band worked on their unique brand of rock and in late 1999 released their independent CD "Opening Statement". Strong local sales and a publishing deal followed. Soon after, the strength of the album landed two songs on MTV’s hit teen drama "Live Through This" in November 2000. Lightning Capitol Music Inc. CEO John Boutkam describes the songs as "better than most fully produced efforts … The song "Would You Have Done the Same" is an extension of the earlier acoustic work and demonstrates BWP's ability to rock
