I've been making music for about 4 years and I know I have a lot to learn and I can't wait to learn it ALL. I can't wait to have my own signature sound that all the artists and producers I admire seem to achieve. I'm really after a style that is intimate and ambitious that people can relate to. Accessibility is the key to creating powerful music. My ultimate goal is to be a producer and operate an independent record label. I also hope to someday have a home studio that I can make my own music in. I hope you enjoy the musical endeavors I have embarked on thus far.
Why this name?
I think my artist name epitomizes the ideas and schools of thought that I align with. It is hard to tell where you stand in such a large and rapidly evolving world such as our own. This is the main reason I choose to go by Nathan NANO. I am hoping to achieve similar musical accomplishments to those of the handful of artists that have truly shaken me to my core, all of which have helped shape my purpose and identity as a musical artist and as a person.
Do you play live?
I play all the way live in my apartment whenever I get the chance to. Other than that, I'd rather stick to the production side of things.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think that the internet lessens the gap between the real and the fake. If people have unlimited access to music online then they will eventually draw their own conclusions about which artists and ideas are important to our society. I believe that the internet promotes the motto I have live by and allows those with the proper knowledge to, "Reject False Icons".
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Not before I start my own record label (That means no).
Your influences?
Gorillaz, Prodigy, Radiohead, NIN, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Rick Rubin, Daft Punk, Infected Mushroom, Juno Reactor, Tiesto, BT, Aphex Twin, Kid 606, Koji Kondo(Mario Bros.+ Zelda). More locally; Dan the Automator, Paul Oakenfold, MARS. Also heavily influenced by various American, European, and Japanese electronic music.
