Dr Hoos Blues Band was formed as an excuse for some mates to jam. After a lot of jamming with various musos the line up got solid. We did a gig at a surf club and that was that. We wanted to play even more. A gig here and a gig there got us out there and we lasted three years before events changed and the band sadly, folded up. There is another band in the pipeline with a similar Delta blues style on the way. And then some.
Why this name?
Choosing a band name is hard. You need to have a name with some meaning. Dr Hoos sort of covered that. We played old blues songs from way back. A bit like going back in time.
Do you play live?
Yes. We played locally at various pubs and clubs. The odd private occasion and a few fund raising events. Did we like it?. Hell yes.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The inter web thingee has opened up a plethora of opportunities for musicians. We wouldn't be here otherwise. Chances like this didn't happen back when we started.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure, as long as it didn't change the music. We would have executive decision on the final cut.
Band History:
Yes the band is history but the music lives on.
We collaborated on a few originals and I have written a few myself. and no doubt there are more to come.

Your influences?
Influences come from far and wide. Blues being the main element. There's a lot of different backgrounds involved here which I think shows up in the overall sound.
Favorite spot?
My Home town actually. New Plymouth.
Equipment used:
Matt's gear: Fender P Bass, Fender Jaguar Bass, Fender P fretless, Fender V24 Five string bass, Diplomat semi acoustic (got that when I was 12). Behringer 300W head, 2 x 10" cab, 1 x 15" cab. Some effects. Optima Gold strings.
Anything else...?
THE NEW ENTITY HAS BEGUN.
A bass player that has moved to drums. This dude has the beat alright. Found him to be spot on with the feels for Dr Hoos tunes.
A guitarist that I've played with for years and a good mate. We know each others sound well.
We did have a singer / guitarist but he had to resign due to commitments. So now we're looking again.
