Welcome. This is dpote, from New Mexico. We'll be exploring some things here. Kind of like an aural archeological expedition. Sit back, and have a listen. I hope you dig what you hear.
Why this name?
I used to be a unix sysadmin. The name is my old login.
Do you play live?
Yes, currently in a local band, playing for military and civilian functions. I love playing live for the instant feedback from listeners. I recall playing 'Paranoid', and forgetting the words, so our sound man was singing from the back of the venue through the monitors. Great fun!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Bands and individuals can get their music out to the community, and not have to be signed to labels. There's a ton of great stuff out there that probably would never get signed. I greatly appreciate the ability to hear fresh, unsigned music. It's raw and has more energy than what a label would allow.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probably not. I don't want to deal with that mess. Too much regulation and restriction. I get enough of that as it is.
Band History:
I started on the island of Guam, in the 80's. A band called Gillotine. You probably heard of them. We had quite a few albums out on the old ILS label.
Your influences?
I like instrumental artists like Tomo Fujita, and foreign music like Karel Zich.
Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Steel Pulse, and Burning Spear are inspirations to me.
Favorite spot?
Priory, St. Ann, Jamaica WI
Equipment used:
Fender guitars, Fender amps, Digitech effects.
