Why this name?
Sol Philcox is My name
Do you play live?
I would like to, although local gig venues are not keen on kids playing. I am looking to the future though!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Quite radically, The response from sites like myspace have launched a lot of bands.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes but only if they respected what music I wanted to play
Band History:
Started playing drums at the age of 5 and have been ever since. Picked up guitar when I was 14 and have never looked back. I started playing simple songs and not taking guitar too seriously until I discovered the blues about a year after starting to play. About 5-6 months ago I stumbled across the chicken pickin' thing and have never looked back. I play in an alt. rock/bluesy based band called dr. stoat with two of my tremendous friends so that is also a priority for me. About 3 months ago i set up a home recording setup. I record all my tunes at home.
Your influences?
Stevie Ray Vaughan is the greatest guitarist who ever lived. I also admire the work of Brent Mason, Brad Paisley, Jimmy Bryant, Prince, Hendrix and countless others.
Favorite spot?
anywhere other than where I live bit I do love London.
Equipment used:
A fender ash Stratocaster, A home-made ash telecaster, A modified squier telecaster ran through an array of effects including a boss overdrive, compressor, big muff, crybaby wah, dod chorus and an EQ. I currently play a fender hot rod deluxe tube combo, ran parallel with a vintage soundcity studio 20 watt valve head and 2x10 cab (fender for strat, soundcity for telecaster).
Anything else...?
