Started in January 2006, Aiming For Angels has already stirred up a buzz around the local community. Hailing from Southern New Jersey, Aiming for Angels can be described only as a new sound for a new scene. Dark, delicate and a little sharp on the edges. The band will be going on their second (self booked) US tour this summer, hitting venues from southern Florida, Texas, Ohio, Illinois and everywhere in between. Since they came together, Aiming For Angels has been rapidly moving towards overtaking the scene and gaining additional support. If you are interested in learning more about the band, or just want to check out extra information, please feel free to check the following web sites:

Why this name?
The meaning behind our band name is to shoot down angels to recieve the attention of god.
Do you play live?
We play live all over, we are heading out on our second (self booked) US tour this summer check it out the tour dates are on www.myspace.com/aimingforangels!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It especially helps out our band a lot through booking and is an extremely useful tool in getting our music out there all around the world especially since we are still an unsigned band. But on the other hand, it's harder for bands to get signed now a days since nobody buys cds anymore and just downloads. But, that's just the irony I guess.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We would. The main reason would be to set up better tours. We would be able to get in the loop with elite booking agencies who only respond to money.
Band History:
The band has a lot of history that I won't get too far into but the short version is that we all came out of New Jersey in 2 different punk bands who used to play shows together. I (Ryan) moved to Baltimore leaving the band The Scandals who I started with the drummer Jed (now of Aiming For Angels) to join a band called 3 Prong Outlet. After 3 Prong Outlet broke up and I moved back to New Jersey I was contacted by Jed and we started Aiming For Angels with a long time friends Colin and James who were both in a band called The Ugly Mugs we used to play all the time with. We started writing together and the chemistry was really prefect and we sorta moved further away from punk rock and wrote more of our own style derived from our own life experiences and such. That's how we're here today.
Your influences?
Our drummer really loves the band Tool and we do have that kind of dark metal sound especially in our newer songs. Some new stuff we are writing are 8 minutes long kind of steering away from the 2 minute pop songs you hear on the radio, but we do still have those catchy chorus songs and a few 3 minute songs. I (Ryan) am the vocalist for the band and all I can really say to you about my influences is just about my life experiences, I write how I feel and how I want to portray my feelings in the band trying to match up with the mood of the songs. I listen to a lot of new age punk and rock and (yea I guess) trendy stuff here and there. I love old school stuff like the Sex Pistols and the Doors but I am listening to a lot of Ryan Adams, Hawthorne Heights and Taking Back Sunday. James is the one on the list who I really can't speak for though, he has surprised me on many occasions pulling out classical to electronica to new street punk. I know he like the Chilli Peppers (hey he's a bass player-they all do) and Smashing Pumpkins. Colin likes pretty much the same stuff I do but he has more of an edge like, Rancid and Social Distortion, it also shows in his guitar playing. But yea I see us going in a more Tool meets Kill Hannah.
Favorite spot?
Georgia and Florida, a lot of nice people are helping us out in those areas. New Jersey shows suck because it's the pay to play pre-sale ticket shit. It's annoying because we all have 9-5 jobs and we are running around selling tickets to shows the scene if you can call it that, well it's pathetic here.
Equipment used:
Marshall half stacks, Ziligen, Ampeg, Peavy I guess your normal set up for a rock band with punk influences.
Anything else...?
We are just hoping to work hard and write good music, that's what we love doing, that's why we are breathing.
