Im a Producer/Emcee from zimbabwe. Ive been putting tracks down since i was 15.
Why this name?
Blaklizt Entertainemt comes form a pretty crazy concept. Our country (zimbabwe) has been under "sanctions"....basicly a polotical black-list depriving us of foreign aid, international correspondance, etc. making it damn near imposible to go anywhere else even across our own borders..... At the same time the whole Hip Hop culture is not the most welcomed and people who dont understand it or know what its all about tend to hate on those who are a part of it.....another kind of "black-lizt" .....so we thought Blaklizt Entertainment might be the appropriate name for the label.
Do you play live?
Not often. Hip Hop & rap Music still have a way to go in my country so performances are hard to do, people dont understand the music so they stick to their house music & kwaito.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
A lot, from collaborations to marketing, distribution & interaction with listeners, the internet has made the industry a lot more diverse in terms of what you can do.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
yes i would. but i dont like being tied down. i'm the type of artist that loves goin out and doing things with artists signed & unsigned. So for a label to tie me down and say that i cant make any music outside the contract would b a bi*** to me. I guess i can say "if the money's right" but i've been making music for free for so long....whats money gon change? "ya feel me?"
Band History:
Al ya need to know iz we go way back. Blaklizted 4 lyf, no turnin back.....
Your influences?
Anything that sounds good
Favorite spot?
Harare (H-Town) our capital, iz a pretty cool place to be at. dont chill there much but thats where all the "action" is in this country.
Equipment used:
(Tek Neek)I dont use much, i started making music by merely improvising with what i could get my hands on. (radio & a microphne). later we moved onto PC's and various softwares (acid pro, Fruityloops). im currently on a laptop with a Digidesign Mbox2, Pro Tools & a bunch of other software.
