Band History:
Peace Offering started up as a three-peace light metal band from Logansport, Indiana called Sick Buddha. Since then, it has grown in experience, and later became a diverse metal group. The band switched styles completely when Brett Martindale, the former bass player, moved up to guitar. Since then, the band has created songs that still ring in the ears of a few local fans. "Rain" was an instant hit at a local party and has since been requested at public practices. Since the band's conception, it went through many changes, the most prominent being the addition of bass player Nick Rhodes. Nick brought an element of completion to the band, and they are now working on recording their music.
Born of extremely diverse influences, each member brings a different element to the band. The precision of fast-paced metal has shown through for Brett Martindale, the guitarist and vocals for the band. Punk rock and emo have represented itself in Dustin Branscum, the additional guitar and vocals for the band, who brings a new element to hardcore metal by singing lyrics in the foreground rather than screaming. Nick Rhodes brings an element of steady focused bass riffs to the band. Nathaniel Figueroa backs all this up with a combination of steady slow-paced beats and quick-pounding quarter beats.
The group's lyrics are based largely on their moral and political beliefs. "The mainstream music scene is disgusting. You have all these bands and artists claiming that they're standing for all the right things, gathering their fans' shouts onstage, and then leaving the stage to a self-indulgent lifestyle of sluts, strippers, drugs, and ignorance," says Dustin. "It's f***ing rediculous." Their first song, "Rain," portrayed the idea of trying to find a place in a world ruled by ideologies of lust and fascism. "Mark of Shame" asks a question directly to people that live their lives like they shouldn't care about others or themselves how they can live that way. In contrast, "Perserverance" promotes the idea of pressing ahead in the most troubling of times.
The band wishes to focus now on showing their music to the world. Recently asked to record a song by many local fans, they have decided that now is the best time to pick up on their music career.
