She’s been hailed as "the new age Mary J Blige" NaKisha never pretends she writes and sings from her own heart about life, love and heartache. Born in the small town of Coatesville, PA she knew she wanted to pursue music after performing in various talent shows in school. It was a surprise to her peers to hear the quiet little girl belt out "Hero" by Mariah Carey with ease and expertise. Artist like Aretha Franklin, Mary J Blige and EnVogue accelerated her drive to sing and emulate their soulful sound giving her a passion to follow her heart and go after her dreams. Now at the age of 23 the petite vocal powerhouse has matured into an amazing singer/songwriter that is influenced by her soulful roots in R&B.
She’s been dubbed a "woman’s voice" by many of her fans with lyrics that are honest and real and that’s reflected in her music. This is evident in the smash hit "Not Runnin Back" that speaks to the hearts and minds of people all over. The song "Not Runnin Back" was also named "Song of the day"in R&B at Garageband.com. After her independently released self - entitled EP debut album NaKisha has performed at numerous showcases and has left audiences in aw and admiration. People are drawn to her sound that is a break from the monotony. During a time when the airwaves are congested with one hit wonders with no originality, NaKisha has a love for music that demands nothing but the best from her and she delivers time and time again.
NaKisha isn’t chasing a lifestyle of instant celebrity and because of that her soul shines through in her music. Her independent style is sure to attract fans along the way as she takes the music industry by storm. A note from the artist......."I express myself best in my lyrics. Experience of everyday life, love and heartbreak motivate me . Music means so much to me, I feel like I need to give my very best with every song I write. I'm growing up through my songs and you can hear that transition If you listen from the first song I ever recorded until now. Even so, I still have a lot of things to learn, but I am an avid student . I'm not going to claim this isn't hard, I go through many moments of self doubt and my will is tested but, the one thing I will never do is quit. I'd never be able to forgive myself if I didn't see this thing through to the end."
