Your influences?
McCartney, Costello, Bolan & T. Rex. Manu Chao/Mano Negra. Beach Boys, you know. Leonard Cohen. Blur, Bacharach, Piazzolla, of course. Harrison, Zombies, Jobim, Blossom Dearie, Cure, Django (& Stephane), Piaf, de Lucia, Slade, Beulah, Armstrong, Sweet, Sublime, Junior Brown, Porter, Rodgers, Smiths, and Broonzy. I would have loved to have been in Space, but now I think Cake would be the greatest band to join. Leadbelly's great. Clash, Stone Roses, Les Paul. I'm really digging eastern european folk music now. I think that few people in the world are cooler than Sly and the Family Stone. And I like baroque composers and glam rock. Additionally, 2Pac, Scott Joplin, J.R. Morton, CCR, Kaizers Orchestra, Willie Nelson, Violent Femmes, Gainsbourg, Jeff Beck's Yardbirds, Adam Ant, ELO, Al Green, Fitzgerald, No Smoking Orchestra, F.Hardy. There are about twenty Billy Bragg songs that I'd like to cover, Ramones, Ellington, Vaselines, Dusminguet, Goodman (and Gleason, for that matter), C.Longet, RZA, Magnetic Fields, Sonic Youth, L.Redbone, old things, turn-of-the-century stuff (last century, like Billy Murray and Aileen Stanley). I used to really like Everclear, Weezer, and the Offspring (Cal Punk) and classic soul. The last new band I liked was either Gogol Bordello or Fanfare Ciocãrlia, but they've both been around for some time. And Roots Manuva, Akala. I'll list ELO one more time. Half of the time, though, I'm just listening to my own music.
Favorite spot?
I like any place where you can be alone--NOT the city.
