Das Dritte Ohr has been the first blues band ever in Germany and has been the foremost exponent of that style since then. Founder Udo Wolff's vision has always been to express his own experiences using the musical expressiveness of the blues - even more to do so in his own language so people can understand the lyrics and connect to the stories in the songs.
In the late 70s and early 80s the band has been something like the "official" backing band for touring U.S. blues artists like J.B.Hutto, Eddy Clearwater, Johnny Littlejohn, Sunnyland Slim and James Booker, just to name a few - the best education in blues you'll ever get!

Why this name?
Founded in 1968 when everybody was listening to psychedelic an "progressive" rock, founder Udo Wolff came up with the name (The Third Ear) "because with both ears filled with that stuff you needed a third ear to listen to the blues"
Do you play live?
Yes, we do. Used to log in 150 - 180 dates a year back in the "good ol' days".
Appearances in Chicago blues clubs in 1980/81 have been very special for us.
Some big outdoor shows for large crowds and sharing
bills with big name artists.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Distribution of music has definitely changed for artists and made them more independant from big companies. Listeners get a chance to listen to artists they'd never encounter otherwise.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I don't think so
Your influences?
Everythin downhome blues
