Hello world....I'm a new addition to this beautiful culture we all love called "HIP-HOP". I'm straight outta the WESTCOAST, a NEW WEST and TRUESTARS representative...if u aint familiar with that, keep ya eyes and ears open. Some might say the WESTCOAST is dead, but it always comes back around and as a young talented artist i could'nt have it any other way. It's so many dope artist on my coast, much love to the SOUTH, EAST, and the MIDWEST....I'm comin-Geo Brown
Why this name?
Well basically my government being George got divided down the middle...now the Brown is basically a addition to Geo representing the struggle, the hustle, and the color of my skin yet I'm doing this for all skin colors....
Do you play live?
I try to perform live as much as possible, for the experience and promotion. I've performed at the famous "Grand Ave Night Club", "Club Vertigo","Club Aura","The Good Hurt","The Knitting Factory", and other clubs and venues, but i dig that feeling of entertaining the crowd and seeing how they respond to my music and my talent.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Man, the internet especially has allowed artist, producers, and other music heads to spread new music to the rest of the world faster than any other form. You can practicaly be an internet artist these days, you can produce, distribute, and promote your latest music. So its definitely changed the industry.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course...that's the ultimate goal, mainly because I love music and I cant alone distribute my talent to the rest of the world the way i would like by myself. Money is important but not at the cost of not being able to recieve proper promotion and exposure a truly talented artist deserves...it's just all about who you sign with and if you can be a good business man.
Band History:
I've been rapping since 11 years old. It started off with poetry and spoken word, as i listened and grew up listening to rap, I began freestylin' and learning these other artists songs i would listen to. I went on to record myself on a kareoke machine(poor quality). But none the less i kept at it till i began gettin in the studio and found myself progressing more and more into who i am today
Your influences?
I have alot of respect for all artist in this industry. If you've made it this far, you're deserving of my respect as a successful artist. Now past that I have an even greater amount of respect for the artists that capture hearts and minds witht their work. That to me is more important to me than a million record sales, dope homes, and ice. I pay close attention to Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, much respect for Tupac Shakur, Jay-z grabs my ear with his perfect rhyme schemes and ability to put his words together, and to all concious artists with strong messages. To hold a mic in your hand means more power than the president of the United States so what you say has an influence on so many people, until some artists realize that, they get no love from me.
Favorite spot?
I love my hometown of Los Angeles,Ca, but I would love to see other parts of the country and on to see the rest of the world. I think that plays a big part in who yo are as a artist.
Equipment used:
I record off of protools, beats come from various pieces of equipment though: mpc's, triiton racks and keyboards, and all that other stuff i never even touch...lol
Anything else...?
Listen in people....It's about to be a "Change Of Weather"
