Why this name?
Chosen from the loveable, bumbling policeman
character from "The Odd Couple" TV sitcom. Bunk
is not actually a cop... far from it!
Do you play live?
Yes. All over the east coast. New York City is Murray's favorite place to play, naturally!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Upside: the ability to reach your audience, no matter where in the world they are.
Downside: too much music to hear, and not enough time to hear it all!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Maybe, maybe not.
Band History:
Began in 1987 as a side project from Legoland and has continued strongly to this very day. Have taken time away from Murray the Cop for my other projects (The Skipping Class, Drug, Linus, Loaded
For Bear, Legoland, etc...) but most of these developed out of Murray the Cop songs and each band performed Murray the Cop songs live.
Your influences?
Joy Division, XTC, The Kinks, The Zombies, Brian Wilson, The Smiths, Echo & the Bunnymen, Bauhaus, New Order, The Beatles, Robyn Hitchcock, Syd Barrett, NDW, Bubblegum Pop, etc...
Favorite spot?
Home.
Equipment used:
guitars, bass, keyboards, synths, drums, drum machines, sequencers, loads of effects pedals,
various percussion, flute, household appliances
Anything else...?
Melody is king.
