...a soul-deep singer with a penetrating presence. Her music has a force of its own, with vocals that hit you smack dab between the eyes and knock you a few feet back. From CD liner notes by Michael Kinsman
Blues-Soul-Roots singer/songwriter Michele Lundeen, dubbed "The Queen of Steam" for her stirring vocals and electrifying stage presence, does indeed command attention. Often described as "Janis Joplin meets Bonnie Raitt" (or think Lydia Pense, Bonnie Bramlett), Michele is a powerful, soulful vocalist with an incomparable style all her own, effortlessly blending classic roadhouse blues, jump swing, Memphis groove, sultry jazz and funky soul into a satisfying musical stew. An established, popular and respected veteran of the club, concert and festival circuit in both Northern Nevada and Southern California, Michele has shared stages with dozens of nationally known blues and roots artists from John Lee Hooker to Elvin Bishop and Savoy Brown to Queen Ida while gaining a reputation as a talented headliner in her own right.

Why this name?
I go by my name or as Michele Lundeen & Blues Streak. I thought Blues Streak was a fun play on words... the play on words conotates "extensive" (like "talk a blue streak) ... and a little "wild ' furious"... hence, she's got a "blues" streak that won't quit! I've been submerged in band names for years and also decided to just go for the simple recognition by including my own name. Occasionally I do a trio at a little French/Caribbean joint and call it Michele Lundeen Trois.
Do you play live?
Mostly in San Diego, CA at Patrick's II in the historic downtown Gaslamp, at Humphrey's Backstage Lounge and Viejas. I also do a trio at a popular, arsty beach shack/restaurant called Calypso Cafe on HWY 101 in Encinitas, CA and I also play a lot of the street fairs and concerts/showcases. Mini tours have taken us to Vegas and to Laughlin for annual events plus the Reno/Tahoe area.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Man, anyone can get out there now and get exposure around the world literally... it's pretty phenomenal and plus be really time consuming to stay on top of it all. It sometime feels narcissistic, but hey, if you can't afford to hire promoters, somebody's got to do it if you want to expand your horizons.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
not before inspecting the fine print with a music lawyer... however, we've all heard some horror stories about getting into a financial bind with major labels.

Your influences?
"I dig all facets of Blues from Country to Rock and classic Memphis Soul, rhythm & blues. Growing up in Oakland, CA, music was always the centerpiece and staff of life at home. My mom had a varied collection of albums like Harry Belfonte, The Righteous Brothers, Ray Charles, Mahalia Jackson and African and Island sounds! Then I heard Aretha and Tina Turner and I was really taken in!"
Influenced by that commanding, Gospel/Soul sound, Michele’s own musical expressions exude attitude and confidence...but especially honesty.

Favorite spot?
Well... Maui and Kauai hold a special place in my heart. As far as performing... I've had some very festive gigs in the Reno-Tahoe-Virgina City area... San Diego has equally cool things going on, too, and it's truly beautiful and where I call home now.
Equipment used:
Know yer gettin' personal! HA!
For music, my key purchase the last few years was a powered 15" JBL monitor! I got so tired of crappy monitors and being drowned out. I sing pretty hard sometimes and this puppy has saved me over and over again. I LOVE it. That's a good puppy.

Anything else...?
Yeh, I could go on and on... and just might... or please feel free to contact me.
