It's mainly just me, with a little help from my friends Flame, Bear, and LowHurtz (my guitars and bass). I'd like to be Joe Satriani or Steve Vai or Malmsteen or a number of other nimble fingered slingers, but I'm just me. Some of the songs on my site are collaborations with others, and/or from bands that I belong (or belongED) to, but they're all songs that I've written, co-written, or collaborated on (e.g. Yesterday's Betrayal) with permission. I hope you like some guitar pickin'. Please join my mailing list and I'll send out notices of new songs or re-mixes. You can unjoin at any time, and I usually only send out an email about once/month. |
Why this name?
Joe Satriani was already taken.
Do you play live?
I'm working on it - as of January 2007 I'm involved in starting up a band in Phoenix called "Poppa Vein". As of January 2008 the band has gone through a few incarnations, hasn't played live yet and who knows if we ever will. It's friggin' hard to build a band when you get older!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's much easier to reach a large audience, to get a great deal of exposure. But that doesn't mean that it's easy to get a big following.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I'm sold one CD through Statue Records until they effed me. I can't recommend them. Any future sales will be through other online vendors like CD Baby.
Band History:
I've been playing off and on since 1970 (mostly on). I've been in a number of bands, and love playing live in front of a good audience, who I like to approach as a group of friends out lookin' for a good time. I like to party with the crowd, and get the crowd involved in what I'm doin'. My biggest band was called Orange, in Portland, Oregon around 1980-1982. We played all of the top clubs, and even had a chance to play with Joe Ely (of the Kingsmen/Louie Louie fame) once.
Your influences?
Jimi Hendrix, Blue Oyster Cult (Don Roeser), Steppenwolf, Santana, Pat Travers, Grand Funk Railroad, Pink Floyd, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck, Neal Schon, Eddie Van Halen, Deep Purple, Guns-n-Roses, LA Guns, Megadeth, Eminem, others that I'm sure I'm forgettin' (April Wine, Outlaws, Vandenberg, Santana...)
Favorite spot?
Phoenix, Verde River (Catfish Point), Kitt Peak, Mt. Lemmon, basically anywhere in ARIZONA, USA! Okay, there is Diego Garcia too.
Equipment used:
Real Ibanez Guitars and Yamaha Bass. Drums are canned from CD's (yeah - I DID pay for 'em).
