Junell Street started with the acoustic duo 2x12 Gary (stage hog) Fights and Kim (the REAL heartland idol) Swickard. They decided to expand on their sound. With the additions of "The Legend" Sonny Waddell, "The Laid Back Drummer Guy" Bob Oberg and Karen "The Choirgirl" Jaggers. They have since evolved into a hot Blues/Rock band. Their combination of styles creates a unique blend of Blues, Classic Rock, and R&B that pleases crowds of all ages. The core group of Fights, Waddell, and Oberg frequently book shows as a Blues/Rock trio with Swickard and Jaggers adding their vocals to the mix as their schedules allow.
In June 2007 the trio suffered a major setback when Bassist Sonny Waddell announced his retirement due to health reasons. After three months of searching Junell Street found a replacement for Waddell in the guise of 19 year old Bassist Marshall "The Kid" Porter. Kim Swickard left the group in 2007 as well to pursue her solo music and eventually formed her own band. Junell Street continued to perform as a trio with Karen Jaggers setting in on occasion. The released two albums back to back in 2008 "Coming Home" and "Against The Wall". In 2009 Karen became a full time member again taking over as female lead vocalist, they also added a second female lead singer Alli Taj to the line up. After performing with the band for most of 2009 Alli, left the band. The current lineup is Gary Fights: Vocals, 12 and 6 String Guitars, Bass, Keyboards & Percussion; Marshall Porter: Vocals, Bass & Keyboards, Bob Oberg: Drums; & Karen Jaggers, Vocals

Why this name?
It started out as an extension of 2x12 but since has evolved into a seperate entity. The name Junell Street is taken from the street I live on, which is where this band is formed and is still our home base. (Gary Fights)
Do you play live?
Yes we play live, we are currently checking out some new venues in the Central Ky Area. We love it. Each night is special the more the audience gets into what we're doing onstage the better we play.. We love it when folks come up and party with us.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes it possible for indies like us to be heard world wide, which wouldn't be possible in these days of corporate radio.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If it was in our best interest to do so, yes.
Band History:
Kim and Gary began playing together as 2x12 in September of 2003. Bassist Sonny Waddell began playing with them in late 2004. Drummer Bob Oberg joined in March 2005, and with the addition of Karen Jaggers on Background vocals in late 2005 the band was complete. They decided after a three month hiatus in early 2006 to hit it hard and fast complete with a new name. After performing a number of shows towards the end of the year both Kim and Gary backed off to work on other projects. Then in the spring feeling revitalized Gary, Sonny, and Bob got it back together and started booking shows again as a trio, with Kim and Karen joining them whenever their schedules allow. In June 2007 Sonny had to step down due to health problems, and after searching for three months the band brought in 19 year old Bassist Marshall Porter. Fights said, "I was very impressed with Marshall's audition. Every song I threw at him, he picked up on right away. I didn't even have to tell him what key I was playing in, and it didn't matter if it was original or a cover, he was right on the money on almost every song." Also at this time Kim Swickard decided to part ways with the band to pursue her own music although she still would sing with the band occasionally. In the summer of 2008 the band released two CDs back to back, "Coming Home" and "Against The Wall" both albums featured music by the band and solo material by Gary Fights. Plus guest performances by Kim Swickard and Karen Jaggers on background vocals and Bruce Avramis on blues harp. In late 2008 the band began to lose steam and their last live performance was at Freedom Fest in Elizabethtown Ky in November. Junell Street had pretty much become a dead end in early 2009. However after some downtime the trio had started working together again and while jamming at a party on May 3rd at friend Jane Rose's house they met female vocalist Alli Taj. Her vocal style impressed the band and she was invited to audition to share lead vocals with Gary. She auditioned on the spot and the band welcomed her to the family. Karen Jaggers also came back into the band on a full time basis but no longer just on backing vocals. She began singing most of the female leads The newly revitalized version of Junell Street began working on new material and working on their list of over 200 covers After performing with the band through the summer Alli Taj left for personal reasons. Also the band had picked up a couple of lead guitarists. Former lead guitarist Mike Cable and Jason "J-Bird" Murphy. Mike left due to conflicts with his job and Jason is on the sidelines due to personal matters. Today Junell Street is stronger than ever featuring powerful three part harmonies backed by their strong rhythm driven sound and are booking shows at festivals and fairs in the Central KY area as well as performing regular shows at Gondolier in Elizabethtown.
