I wish to use my music as a ministry for Jesus Christ and to let his light shine through me to help others know of his loving Grace. I believe you are given gifts for a reason and you should not waste them so I am trying to use what God has given me for his glory.
Why this name?
Gregory Johnson is my given name.
Do you play live?
Yes I have. I have played in my church many times. I have also been blessed to be asked to play in other churches. I love it, it isalways a great experience. One of the best moments for me was when I was playing at Oak Park Baptist church in Jeffersonville Indiana, the spirit was alive in that church and was moving a great deal. It was very moving to hear even 2 to 3 weeks after playing there that my performance was still being talked about. Especially how humble and truthful I was.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
For the Christian songwriter it gives us the ability to use our music as a ministry for Jesus. The ability to reach many more people so they can hear your testimony and witness through song.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, if it was the Lords will, but I am not doing this for fame or fortune. I feel moved by the holy spirit to write and sing for the glory of God, to praise his name and to reach those who do not know him, not so I can gain anything.
Band History:
I grew up around music my entire life. I also grew up in a loving Christian home. I found my love for music at an early age and my love for God grew as I got older. I was never comfortable on a stage of any kind until I felt Gods calling on me to use the gift he had given me for his glory. I still have stage fright issues, but with God leading you cannot go wrong.
Your influences?
I have many musical influences, but I guess most of all my Dad. I grew up listening to him play gospel, bluegrass and country. His biggest influence is Chet Atkins and he can really play. Playing guitar for him comes easy and I guess from watching him I learned a lot, even though I cannot compare when it comes to playing ability. More contemporary influences are Chris Tomlin(The best songwriter ever), Jeremy Camp, Mercy Me, and Casting Crowns.
Favorite spot?
My favorite spot is anywhere my wife and kids are at any particular moment.
Equipment used:
I play Epiphone guitars, I have a Les Paul and a Sheraton II. I also use Yamaha keyboards and epiphone amps.
Anything else...?
I would like to thank my wonderful wife Kathy for her support through everything. My kids Tyler, Nathan and Logan you three are my inspiration. Most of all my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ without whom nothing would be
