Our Lord is the goal, His word is the path, and music of "Simply Praise" is the vehicle.
Why this name?
Well many times people make God so complicated. Just Simply Praise Him and everything else will follow.
Do you play live?
Yes... We network with many church type events.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it puts one (The musician) in control. The old school way was if you're not signed there's really not much you can do as far as true exposure. Today it's entirely up to the musician as to how far he or she wants to take it. The internet is distribution at the hands of the musician. And if you are truly called to offer music to the world the next level will come (A label)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
YES - This is the next level. Let's don't fool ourselved either. A label has far more connections and money than most independents can ever dream of.
Band History:
Our Lord is the goal, His word is the path, and the music of gospel band "Simply Praise" is the vehicle. Almost five years ago, singer, keyboardist JonTod Shriver and singer Janet Shriver answered the Lord's call - coming together to celebrate His word and to sing His praise as "Simply Praise." One could say the Lord planted the seed in a bathtub near Tijuana over thirty years ago. JonTod was six years old and taking a bath when his mother asked if he would like to learn to play the piano. And while JonTod was busy singing in the tub, over in Puerto Rico Janet was singing her little heart out in the backyard of her childhood home. In those days, her microphone was a lemon on the end of a stick. Encouraged by neighbors who enjoyed watching her through their windows, Janet soon sang her first church solo, "Solo No Estoy" - "I'm Not Alone." Although JonTod was born a "preachers kid" and grew up in church, somewhere along the line he ran from his calling and into the pit of drug abuse, jail and the sudden drug-related death of his girlfriend of eight years. "This tragic experience burned the reality of the lost so deep in my soul that it's become the cross I bear," he says with conviction, "It's a cross I will carry for the Lord until the day I die." Having long ago traded her lemon-stick microphone for the real thing, Janet brought her voice and her love for the Lord to Emmanuel Assembly of God church where she continued singing, and was leading worship in the Spanish department. "I haven't always walked in His perfect will for my life." says Janet, "It's been a long journey, but every day... draws me closer to Him. " The Lord's plan has brought Janet and JonTod together. Janet happily says, "As husband and wife, we have a common goal and a burning desire to reach and save other souls through our dedication to Him and His music. " Janet and JonTod's dedication to their Lord, His word and His praise shine through in the words of one of their favorite songs... "Here I am, Lord, for You and You alone, You are my life."
