Born in 1983, Eddie aka Lil'Huss grew up in South Central Los Angeles. It wasn't until he turned the age of six did he find his love for music. It was at this time during the holiday season that Eddie received a gift from his father that would leave an impact on his life forever. He received a mini-record player which eventually led him to his undenyable love and talent for music. By the time Eddie reached middle school, his mother bought him his very first keyboard. Although it had only 35 keys and a limited selection of voices/sounds, this small keyboard was the first instrument Eddie used to develop his incredible producing potential. The first complete song he ever played was the "Pink Panther" and he can still play the tune till this day. "Yeah, I know I've played that tune hundreds of times and it eventually drove my mother crazy," Eddie recalls. By the age of 13, Eddie decided to go by the alias "Lil'Huss" which was inspired by his father. Eddie says, "Back in the day, my dad didn't have it easy as far as his financial situation was concerned. So he basically did what he had to do to get his and provide for my mom and put diapers on my ass. He eventually got stuck with the nickname "Huss", which was short for hustla. And whenever I came around to visit him, all of his homies would just call me Lil'Huss, so thats the origin of my name." It was not until Christmas of 1996 did he get upgraded to a 50-key Yamaha he received as a gift from his mother again where Eddie's producing abilities really took flight. With more sounds and a better understanding for tempo, rhythm, bass, drum patterns, and melodies, Lil'Huss began producing his very own music. "I will always remember the first song I ever produced," Lil'Huss says, "I remember trying to compose it for months and when I finally began to live with my father for the first time, the song transformed into something magical." Eddie decided to move out to Ohio after graduating from middle school and begin to establish a much needed bond with his father. When his father overheard him playing the piano in the living room he was amazed and asked him why he never mentioned he could play. Lil'Huss simply replied, "It's just a song I made up." His father was even more amazed and exclaimed, "What?!!! You produced this song?" It was at this moment Eddie's father bought his son a brand new keyboard and some mics for him to sing along with. Eddie decided to play the song his father overheard. "My dad told me it was the most beautiful thing he ever heard and instantly wrote lyrics to the song, The title of the song became Take It Away," Eddie recalls. From there, over the next several months, with the help of his father writing songs and giving him ideas for melodies, Lil'Huss was able to produced five more songs for his father. Eddie says, "Yeah, me and my dad really hit it off. He always had the dream of being an entertainer. He's definitely an extraordinary writer. I guess it was meant to be for me and him to come together and make incredible music. Most of the music we made were R&B-ish and Pop sounding. He wants our group to be called Generations because of the whole father and son thing. I don't know about that right now but anything is possible." Eddie moved back to Los Angeles after his sophomore year in high school. Being surrounded in the urban environment, Lil'Huss began to take his producing abilities to another level Hip Hop. "Lets see, the very first hip hop beat I made was called Game Locked. It came out better than I expected and I eventually started inviting my cousins over to come lay some rhymes over it because you know my nerdy ass couldn't spit or flow for nothing haha." Yes, Eddie was quite the intelligent one in the family and received many honors throughout his educational career. Eddie says, "With the way hip hop is all about now, I don't think I could get away with trying to rap to my own stuff with people knowing I'm not a thug or gangsta or whatever. I know I can write rhymes just as good as the best of them and probably even better. It's just that I'm hesitant to take that route." But now with such artists to make it in the music industry such as Kanye West, who did go to college but failed to get the degree, this gives Eddie hope that maybe he can bring his own style of music to the Hip-Hop and R&B music industries. "Yeah, I don't want to be strictly a rapper if I ever decided to do my own stuff. I like to sing, or try to sing too as well haha. C'mon you know with studio magic I can make my voice sound like Usher." Eddie continues, "From what I know, I don't think there's any dude out there that sings and raps or have came out with albums like that. So it's never been done. It may be contradictory but I ultimately feel that music is music. I would never try to be someone I'm not. I just want to entertain in every way I can. I like to be versatile." Eddie aka Lil'Huss has taken his producing talents very seriously and is currently in the process of perfecting the art and making it big into the industry. He says, "I'm gonna bring the world music unlike any other and I'm not like all these other cats out here trying to produce just for the hell of it. Most of those dudes on Soundclick and MySpace and their beats are mediocre at best. But there are definitely a few dudes on those sites that have some skill. Still, they only have like one or two beats that I feel are really good and that's it. My goal is to make every beat I ever produce a number one single or instant classic. I don't just produce anything without putting everything into it and I try to make an effort not to have my music sound the same.
Why this name?
Back in the day, my dad didn't have it easy as far as his financial situation was concerned. So he basically did what he had to do to get his and provide for my mom and put diapers on my ass. He eventually got stuck with the nickname "Huss", which was short for hustla. And whenever I came around to visit him, all of his homies would just call me Lil'Huss, so thats the origin of my name.
