Hello World!, I say WELCOME. I'm a 45 year old classic rock fan and musician. For the most part I only do covers of classic rock and folk songs but am known from slipping in an occasional ballad or instrumental here and there too. Played for a while in a great cover band - Texas Chili Dog from North Bergen NJ (*don't* ask me WHY that name, it was as is when I joined in) that was starting to get good but events in my life sort of threw me off balance and that plus other issues stopped that project... best of the best to EC, Jason and Don. Almost two years after I regroup and in July 2006 I found a place behind the drumset with the BEST Metal covers band in NYC: Lyxx.
Why this name?
For a long time, since I joined Soundclick, I had gone by the name MoRPH... one of those things that when someone asks you for the 'band' name and due to lack of imagination the first thing that pops up usually is the one that sticks. MoRPH was an easy sendoff from my name's initials.

Come my time as the drummer in Lyxx. At some yet to be determined point in time the guys crown me with the nickname 2.5 - why? maybe it has to do with my rather imposing physique, 6'7" on a good day and with some extra weight to go along it made easy for a reference of two and a half Mexicans.

UPDATE on Nov 27 2009 -> I had a problem registering an appropriate e-mail account as the contact for this site, the username TwoPointFive was already taken on Gmail, I tried several other combinations both in English & Spanish to no avail... there were some options free to use had I chosen to go German, French or even Catalan, and while pondering what to do I thought of something as universal as music... Esperanto, would it be possible?. As I lack any proficiency on the language I resorted to the on-line translators and came up with the wording du punkto kvin (two point five), plugged it into Gmail and sure enough it was available.

Once that settled in, the itch to rename this Soundclick site from the two days old TwoPointFive moniker got so intense that I decided to take the plunge and go ahead with yet another change; faster than the faster gun slinger in the old West I proceeded. Here's hoping the naming shenanigans will not throw off the brave souls that venture in here.

So there you have it :-)
Do you play live?
Love playing live and there's nothing beyond in the music world as gratifying and exciting. Special moments... audience's hands up in the air, people dancing themselves crazy in front of the stage. It is a little known fact but everyone's heart just follows the rhythm that's set by the DRUMMER (insert evil laughter here).
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It has happened so fast and all over the place that the music industry has lost its way and as an extinct dinosaur, has reacted way too slow to try and catch up. The old models need to be seriously analyzed and revised.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No... these days and age there's no need for them. That is unless one has the "GO for the $$dough$$" attitude... musicianship shall prevail :-)
Band History:
Can't establish one per se. I started playing the guitar at 8 years old after I asked my Dad for a quick lesson, never stopped since. I used to record an apparently endless sequence of tape on a borrowed electric guitar and then a Yamaha midi capable keyboard - soon after (mid teens) I hooked the keys to a Radio Shack Color Computer and begun experimenting with midi on a more dedicated way... remains so to today!
Your influences?
Led Zeppelin for the most part, John Bonham being one of the greatest. Neil Peart from Rush follows extremely close.
Favorite spot?
New York City!
Equipment used:
With very high prominence: Yamaha. Then there are the others like Pearl, Tamma, Ludwig, Yamaha, Ibanez... too many brands to remember. Always remember though that the brand DOES NOT make a musician... if you're a dedicated one you can make a plain rubberband sing!
Anything else...?
All this on this site is done just for the love of music. Keep that in mind :-)
