Based in Leicester, UK, DJ Sonarm is an uplifting Trance music producer and Trance DJ who started his career in 1999, the pinnacle of the Trance music genre. After being drawn into the genre since then, he continues to persue his passion for Trance music by getting inside the genre and producing his own music.

After gaining an advanced diploma in Music at Leicester College Sonarm has since progressed massively, not only in his musical ability, but also launching himself and his music into the industry and is moving closer step-by-step to fulfilling his dream.

Now regularly compared to Trance producers and DJs such as Tiƫsto, Push, Ferry Corsten, Kai Tracid, Mirco de Govia and Paul Van Dyk, DJ Sonarm has his work cut out for him to live up to expectations and produce euphoric tracks that will tear through the clubs as many other artists and producers have successfully achieved.

Having been dubbed a "modern day magician in computer music production" by business TV channel ExpertsOnline.tv after they conducted an interview with him, DJ Sonarm is set to reside among the top UK Trance producers with his musical talent and creativity.

His music is set to be broadcast by SkyTV and has also been used on adverts and continues to draw interest from people of many backgrounds, influences and musical upbringings.

Why this name?
I wanted a name that was completely unique and memorable and I'd be found on the Internet if someone searched for just my name - and so the alias DJ Sonarm was born. I produce music under Sonarm and perform under DJ Sonarm.
Do you play live?
After a 2 1/2 year break from performing live I am now back into DJing and getting the ball rolling again. The highlight of my live career was at DeMontfort Hall, Leicester (East Midlands, UK) where at least 2000 visitors attended and I performed a creative Trance set. I also got a TV interview within minutes of finishing my first set.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I believe that the distribution of MP3s has, in some respects, revolutionised the music industry as new artists are now being found and it is much easier to get your music heard. Also, with the arrival of high-speed broadband, companies are now looking to transform their websites into multimedia entertainment sites and are looking to integrate music and video into their sites to keep their visitors returning. I have answered this question more indepth during my interview with ExpertsOnline.tv which can be heard on my website.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probably, but under another alias. That's if I were approached to do a remix of a pop song to be released by a major. Music produced under my Sonarm alias isn't targeted at the commercial pop market.
Band History:

The production level of tracks produced by Sonarm is always detailed and professional, creating contrasts with crisp percussion, big synths, soft strings and piercing melodies, building up in layers to achieve its height.

Sonarm also produces tracks of an ambient and atmospheric nature as another way to put across emotion in a different sense. "I found a whole new mood can be created if you strip away the driving beats and bass and work more on the mood."

Your influences?

Major idols and influences: DJ Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Paul Van Dyk, Faithless, James Holden, Way Out West, Hybrid, Darren Tate, Andy Moor, Paul Van Dyk, Solarstone, The Thrillseekers, Markus Shulz, Goldfrapp, Basement Jaxx

Also: Tangerine Dream, Vengelis, Jean Michelle Jarre... to name a few

Musical influences: Typically, anything that instills sheer emotion effectively through music. Sometimes this includes a select few pop songs and songs from a diverse range of other genres including Jazz, Ambient, House, Acoustic, Hip Hop, Electro, a lot of EDM for good measure, Triphop, Downbeat, Leftfield, Drum & Bass, live music, Breakbeat, Funk, and a dash more EDM and synthesiser work with a tiny cocktail umbrella to finish... :-D
