Velvet Kreme is a two girl hiphop group started by Janna Willoughby and Jessica Nielsen, two college students with ideas about social change and a love of music. We just have been writing songs and preforming together for a few months and already have a demo cd and lots of plans for the future.
Why this name?
Because we are sweet like cream but are a little rough if you rub us the wrong way;)
Do you play live?
We just formed our group and already played our first live show, which was tons of fun and people enjoyed it. We hope to play more this summer when we have more time away from school!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows access to music that usually would go unheard, like this little hiphop group from Western North Carolina
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It would depend what the deal was. We don't want anyone to try to change us!

We are just newly formed and starting out!
Your influences?
Tori Amos, Ani Difranco, Jurassic 5, a tribe called quest, portishead, morcheeba, eminem...we have a very unique sound, because not that many white girls can sling the rhymes like MC Vendetta!
Favorite spot?
the beach! (velvet kreme looks good in their bikinis!)
