Band History:
It isn’t difficult to find the name Emily Richards on the Internet these days. The pop/rock singer-songwriter continues to enjoy her prominance on the charts at sites such as MP3.com where she’s had remarkable success and longevity. Richards has been selected to headline the Club.MP3.com Summer 2000 Tour.

Richards released her third CD, You Give, in September of 1999, which features thirteen well-crafted and beautifully-produced songs, all written by Richards. You Give pairs Emily with the Grammy-winning producers John Jones (Celine Dion, Duran Duran, Fleetwood Mac) and David Kershenbaum (Tracy Chapman, Brian Adams, Tori Amos) and is one of the most noteworthy independent records released this year.

Richards’ songs Don’t Leave and Too Much Room will be featured on the soundtracks of two up-coming major motion pictures, “Christina’s House” and “Almost Anything,” respectively, scheduled to be released in the spring of 2000.

Richards is impressive on stage as a vocalist, pianist and accordionist and has extensive performing experience in Southern California, Utah, Texas and Nashville including opening for Martina McBride in 1997. While Richards’ recordings are remarkably memorable, it is her live performances that truly strike a chord in the hearts of her fans.

Richards has studied piano since the age of five, wrote her first song at age eleven and competed all over the United States in her teen years. Richards is also an accomplished vocalist and dancer and studied music, theater and dance in college.

Richards suffered a severe back injury in the middle of her studies and as a result, changed her major and graduated with a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Utah and went on to become a manager for PriceWaterhouse Coopers. After extensive rehabilitation, Richards anxiously returned to the music scene, her true inspiration. Richards won a nation-wide talent search in Nashville sponsored by the movie theater chain giant, Cinemark Corporation, in 1996 which provided her the opportunity to record her first album, I Should Be Flying which was heard in hundreds of movie houses across the country and sold thousands.

Richards has written over 200 songs and is predicted by many to be “the next big thing” to take contemporary pop music by storm with her talent. “Richards is a brilliant singer, songwriter and piano player,” said John Jones. “Her songs have a great maturity of melody and lyric.”

Watch for Richards and her musical enchantment in the upcoming months. She is anything but a flash in the pan.
