BG Recordz is an independent record label in western Michigan specializing in hip-hop and R&B. Formed in 2004 by its CEO, BigTrey, BG Recordz is quickly becoming a recognized named in the underground world of hip-hop and R&B throughout the midwest. With a diverse roster of artists BG Recordz is sure to be a favorite underground label for many years to come.
Why this name?
The name was just chosen, originally the name of the label was going to be 260 Productions to show love for the CEO's hometown, but after careful consideration the name was changed to Battleground Recordz(BG Recordz) to give us more appeal and to give GunRu a label that will represent for the city and the midwest.
Do you play live?
We do play live and we love it. There's nothing like the rush you get when your fans are enjoying your music and you have the opportunity to perform for them live.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet and the MP3 changes the music industry because it gives independent labels and artists, like us, a more convenient way to get their music out to their(our) fans, which might not be possible unless that label/artist wants to do a lot of traveling across country.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We would sign a P & D deal with a major label, but not an individual record contract. BG Recordz is its own label and we would like to keep it that way.
Your influences?
Some of Our Musical influences are 2Pac, Biggie, N.W.A., Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, UGK, Scarface, Mary J. Blige, R. Kelly, and so many others to name on this small spot.
Favorite spot?
Grand Rapids, MI(GunRu), Fort Wayne, Indiana, Detroit(D-Town), Indianapolis(Nap-Town), Memphis, TN, St. Louis, MO, Cincinatti, OH, and the entire midwest and parts of the south.
Equipment used:
ProTools, Reason, Fruity Loops, Sampletank, Ableton Live, Akai MPD16 midi controller, T-Racks, JoeMeek, Roland DS-50A nearfield monitors, 2 keyboards, one MXL 990 mic, one MXL 991 mic, and one AKG Perception 200 mic.

Our goal first and foremost is our music, we want to be able to share it with our fans all over the world.
