This is just me and my guitar. You might hear some back up guitar and bass by some of my friends.
Why this name?
Because when you search moptop, I'm the only result, so it's easy to find.
Do you play live?
Yes, but not for money, yet. I've played infront of classes, and tons of students and strangers, and my grandma's birthday. I LOVE playing live. I live for it. It's the greatest feeling in the world.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's given small and/or old bands and genres a MUCH greater audience. People are realizing mainstream music sucks.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, but I'd have to have 100% creative control.
Band History:
I started playing when I was 14. I was inspired by my science teacher (Mr. Corsano). he brough in all his guitars one day and played for us. I was in awe for the first time. I had the overwhelming urge to learn guitar, and my cousin Chris, who I'm real close to bought me one. That guitar has been practically glued to my chest since. So I went online and looked up the typical "gods" to listen and study. Everyone from Angus Young to Van Halen to Jimi Hendrix. I wound up listening to 60s and 70s stuff, and then 50s, 40s, and even 20s stuff (See musical influences for more. After my first 3 months I got a guitar teacher. He doesn't teach guitar as much as he did music theory. I'm WELL versed in music theory, and even classical. I can read sheet music on the go. But when I play, I just improv. I don't plan out solo's. I go freely. I'm 16 now. I just got accepted into Douglas Anderson, a magnet school for the arts(Quite a feat going in as a senior.), and got a perfect score on the guitar part of the audition.
Your influences?
Oh boy. It's a long list from all along the spectrum, but mostly late 60s, and early 70s rock, and late 50s, and early 60s jazz. Jimi Hendrix's music is just too mind blowing for me to describe in less than 500 words. At Woodstock, from Star Spangled to Villanova Junction, is the most amazing 15 minutes in music.

I also listen to Zeppelin, Floyd, The Doors, Lennon is a beautiful song writer, Miles Davis defined jazz several times over, Cannonball Adderly, Muddy Waters (Blue Skies is amazing), Thelonious Monk, Beatles is a band that's impossible not to love, ect.
Favorite spot?
Jacksonville, Florida. Freebirds is an awesome music spot. They have ALL the great music from all genre's. Owned by former members of Lynard Skynard.
