This is an updated recording of the song with full lyrics and no harmonica.
Another song from my youth when I was still searching and struggling to find meaning and purpose in life. It captures the feelings of isolation and emptiness rather well I think. I'm certain that many of you can relate.
A song about leaving home and setting off on the grand adventure of life.
How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. Psalms:36:7
Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place. 1Chronicles:16:27
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John:15:5
And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the back part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awoke him, and said to him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? Mark 4:37-38
But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. Micah:5:2
As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for thee, O God. Psalms:42:1
I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search. Psalms:77:6
O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Psalms:139:1
Oh give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalms:107:1
In the beginning was God and perfection then came the fall and corruption then came the harvest and judgement then came the end with God and perfection. As Isaiah 46:10 tells us "He knows the end from the beginning."
A song I recorded as a young man where I harmonize with myself in a sort of Everly Brothers style. I think the passion and the innocence that this song captures is what I like most about it. Multi-leveled meanings are implied in this song.
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. Isaiah:40:8
About trying to fill the inner void with external surroundings.
Seek the LORD while he may be found, call upon him while he is near. Isaiah:55:6
Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Matthew:18:3
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. Psalms:28:7
A simple little tune with an even simpler message of following the leader.
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Revelation:4:11
How lovely on the mountains are the feet of Him who brings good news, who announces peace and good tidings of happiness, who announces our salvation and says to Zion, Your God reigns! Isa:52:7
But God demonstrated his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans:5:8
And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. Revelation:4:8
But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him. 2nd Kings:3:15
