Comin' straight out tha Brook Projects on tha Westside of CG, Kartel Records co-founder and CEO Big Ro is poised to take over the muthaf***in' game on tha North side of tha border. Reppin' CG, Ro be tha leader of tha Killa Kartel, swervin' and servin' muthaf***az since 2000. Tha right-hand man and masta producer Cdub be lacin' tha crack hits from MTL, and Jcuz be blazin' tracks reppin' South Varsity Crips.
Why this name?
It ain't due to my height that they call me Big. Everything I do is Big, wheather it's money makin', business or my voice. Tha bi***es call me Big for other reasons...Tha Killa Kartel is tha group, with Cdub tha producer and Jcuz tha dirt man.
Do you play live?
We play anywhere anytime with anyone. Big Ro has performed at Coyotes Nightclub in CG with guests Chain Reaction, Jcuz, Lil' C and Macadocious. My dog Chain has lit up Tequila Nightclub, man we all over this muthaf***a takin' sh*** over. We love live shit. It's the true essence of deliverin' music to tha people, plus the energy of a hype-ass club crowd pushes us to better ourselves. We love tearin' tha f***in' roof off clubs and giving tha people sh*** to talk about. Live shows put the artist in his domain, plus we all about tha greenbacks too, and thats a good way to get legit paper.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It changes tha industry in both good and bad ways. First of all, it's a genius concept from the standpoint of promotions and marketing. What other avenue can deliver your music to millions for free? It's crazy; through tha net, independents and other talented artists that would normally never have a chance to have their sh*** heard can now promote it to a massive audience. All I have to say is that with this opportunity, your sh*** better be hot, though. It also allows wack muthaf***az to flood the scene with garbage and f*** with everybody's time. Mine is money so eat a dick if u wastin' it. In addition, downloading is really hurtin' artists pockets, so support 'em if you like 'em, and drop your $15 on tha hot sh*** you broke-ass bums.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Who wouldn't under the right circumstances? I have my own label I co-own and run, but if Universal or Atlantic or whoever would pick it up, I would be having a very good day. Sign Me!!!
