I love all things music. Listening, writing, recording, arranging, playing live, working alone, working with others, etc. It is truly an addiction I have no intention of rehabing from.
Do you play live?
Yes.
I play with a cover band, as well as in a duo with my wife, at the Rising Star Casino in Rising Sun IN and at private / corporate functions.
I play original material under the name Carl Hatmaker & the RedHeadedStepChildren

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the greatest thing accomplished was the killing, or near killing, of the major label. Major labels and all the radio stations that they own was killing original music. It is good to see the tables turning. It has placed the control back where it should have been all along, in the listener's hands.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If it were the right deal, yes. But there isn't much chance I will have to worry about that happening. I ain't Justin Timberlake
Band History:
I have played "out" for about 15 years now. I am focusing my efforts on original material now. I still play selected cover shows for the money and to keep my chops up but 90% of my efforts are in original material.
Your influences?
Just about everyone, really. I love great songs and tons of people across just about every style has put some out. The biggest influence that has really reinvigorated my love of music and pushed me to focus on writing is Jack White.
Favorite spot?
Nashville Rocks! ( not the glitzy country part, the real part )
Equipment used:
I use a Gibson SG standard and a Fender Telecaster 1950's reissue through a Fender combo amp ( 90 watt with 1 12" speaker - no stacks for me! ). I use no pedals, except a tuner and a wah.
