I'm a solo artist. My music is a mixture of rock and electronica though my musical influences are far more diverse. I've been making music since 1980 with bands, most notably BI93, and on my own. Im essentailly a guitarist and songwriter who fiddles with sound modules, synths, drum machines, grooveboxes and sequencers.
Why this name?
It's derived from my original stage name. When BI93 started we were completely nutty and had silly names. Mine was The Great Sage Opal Window-Box.
Do you play live?
Have done though not for some time. Playing live is unbeatable.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It at least lets me put some music online so it's available to a wider audience.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Not anymore.
Your influences?
Hawkwind, Neil Young, plenty of rock [punk/new wave and it's influences like The Pink Faries (3rd album - Kings of Oblivion), Peter Hammil and some prog rock], country, folk rock (Decameron, Home Service, The Albion Band), elements of trance, techno and other styles of electronica. Synths always get me going - Tangerine Dream, John Foxx, Leftfield and many others.
Equipment used:
Westone Thunder 1 electric guitar, various Boss pedals, Aria electro-acoustic, Yamaha SW1000XG, SH101, TR909, Roland D2, Yamaha DJX, Fruity Loops, Music 2000 (Playstation version - a fine underated sequencer) and a few other software sequencers.
