Having been classified as playing just about every style under the sun (including grind, black, thrash, melodic death, doom, atmospheric death, etc.), Nosce Teipsum are a DEATH METAL band hailing from Tasmania, Australia.
The band was formed in mid-2000 by guitarist Dave and vocalist Shane under the original name "Morpheus." Upon the release of the first demo, "The Burial of Love" in early 2002, the band noticed how many variants of Morpheus were already in existence and decided to change their name to Nosce Teipsum (meaning "Know Thyself" in Latin), named after one of their own songs that appeared on "Burial..." taken from the poem by Sir John Davies.
Under their new name, Nosce Teipsum recorded an eponymously-titled demo, appeared on several compilation albums and prepared material for a full-length album.
The Nosce Teipsum / Zero Degrees Freedom Split CD was recorded and released early-2005 and new bassist Simon (vocalist/guitarist for Zero Degrees Freedom) was invited to join Nosce Teipsum in order to promote the launch of the CD, an invite which he accepted. The band, now with its first-ever full line-up are preparing to record their first full-length album, given the working title of "Tempus Omnia Revelat" ("time reveals all").
