Theophilus (NZ)
NEWS   In April 2007, I won a competition put on by producer Tony Stone. The object of the competition was to take a passage of Scripture and break it down in rhyme form over one of Tony's beats. My passage was Jeremiah 17 and the whole song is available for free download in my music section. All glory to God! The result of the win is that Tony Stone will contribute five new beats to my EP album, scheduled to be released in 2008.

I'm a rapper born in the U.S. but I've grown up in New Zealand. The aim of my music is to glorify and promote Jesus Christ to people everywhere, especially youth who are into the whole hip-hop scene. In my music, I don't hesitate to speak the truth, whether it's popular or not.
Why this name?
It's Greek for "Friend of God". I like it.
Do you play live?
Yes.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows much more of an opportunity to get your music out there, especially for unsigned artists.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If I didn't have to change my lyrics, yeah. It would snow in Rarotonga before a mainstream label would let Christ be exalted without compromise though.
Band History:
We officially started our group, Street Poet Alliance in 2004. I have been writing songs a long time before then. As a solo artist, I do stuff alongside that as well.
Your influences?
I like to get inspired by many different genres. My music is always quite melodic. I'm into catchy hooks. A few of my favourite artists are Keith Green, Timothy Brindle, The Cross Movement, Relient K, Japhia Life, Alicia Keys, Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men
Favorite spot?
Aitutaki, Cook Islands
Equipment used:
Logic Express, a 12" G4 Mac laptop, an Edirol Midi Controller, Firewire Solo, and a Behringer B2 Mic
