In 2004, after a year of writing songs, R-JET went into the studio ready to record a new CD. As the project progressed it was truly evident that R-JET’s sound was beginning to form into something quite original. The members of R-JET focused on making music that was different and alive and with the help of their creative Producer / Engineer Merritt Partridge their sound started to solidify.

All you have to do is look at the band’s name to get a hint of what makes R-JET so different and new.

“It’s about building a solid foundation”

These guys build a strong foundation with their energetic and creative rhythm section and then blend in a melodic and lyrical style that comes alive and evokes strong feeling. Rowland Boksleitner on drums and John Farmer on bass lay an unusually strong foundation to this band's sound. Tobin Logan’s creative and melodic guitar technique, prog like in nature, links these almost hypnotic rhythmic sounds to the smooth lyrical and melodic vocal style of Edward Nicholson.

This band's sound is very different, new and alive. Some of their lyrics are straightforward but most are quite abstract, leaving the listener the opportunity to develop their own impressions.

R-JET’s sound is new and worth a listen. Check out their new album “Done Caught You Up” [send purchase request by email to contact].

You’ll be glad you did!

Currently we play only in the Raleigh - Durham - Chapel Hill, North Carolina area and just on rare occasions. We have been concentrating our efforts on writing and recording music. We do LOVE to play out and look forward to playing out more often. Our special moment so far was being the opening act at the Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill [Carrboro].
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows the whole world to listen and enjoy what we enjoy doing best... making music. Hopefully music lovers in countries all around the world will listen to Done Caught You Up.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
...just make us the right offer. We paid for "Done Caught You UP" out of our own pockets >OUCH.
Band History:
Nine years ago the "party band" Steelwater, was playing popular cover tunes in venues around NC. Slowly Steelwater started writing original songs that caught attention of audiences and generated requests. In 2002 Steelwater went into the studio and planned to spend 32 studio hours over two months to complete the CD. Over 90 studio hours, a year later and way over budget; Steelwater was ready to release its first original CD- STEELWATER [STILL AVAILABLE- send purchase request by email to contact]. There were differing opinions in the band about the direction Steelwater should take. The decision was made and Steelwater lost a very talented guitarist to another popular local cover band. The three remaining members agreed to change direction, stop playing cover songs, and add a new guitarist. With the addition of a new guitarist R-JET was formed. In 2004, after a year of writing songs, R-JET went into the studio much wiser, more experienced and ready to record a new CD. This CD is about the music, creativity and talent.
Your influences?
Rush -- Yes -- Beatles -- Led Zeppelin -- Dream Theater -- King's X

Our music has been labeled "progressive rock". But some songs are not so progressive... a good thing- we tend to influence each other.
