Omar Faqir-the founder of Jazz in Amman- who started introducing this style back in 1990. Influenced by all jazz styles, he was able to achieve his own "jazz thumb print" and was granted a scholarship from Berklee College of Music-Boston. Omar performed with jazz legends such as M.J.M, Charles Davis, Noah Haword,and others.
Why this name?
Omar started playing his own music and appreared with different band styles appearing with his name...
Do you play live?
Jazz should be live...yes I played in tens of festivals in many countries...I still remember The Jazz Caravan that roamed many countries.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
More exposure to the other talents and experiences in the world...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I started my jazz project called " Jazz Abdulwahab" and am talking to some production agents...
Your influences?
Born in the only Jordanian music family...I was influenced by all Arabic,classical,Greek,Armeian, and Jazz legends...my main influence is Chick Corea
Favorite spot?
Amman ...where I started my music...
